This event is collaboration between Honor the Earth, RadAzns, and Kalpulli Yaocenoxtli/ Indigenous Roots, specifically to bring indigenous people together with people of color (POC) who are not native to North America to think about Indigenous grassroots struggle and place in the movement.
** PLEASE NOTE ** This space is intended for POC and Indigenous folks. We are asking that white allies tap into other spaces to support and learn about Standing Rock and #NoDAPL. Thank you for understanding.
For POC coming, we will reflect how POC can address our part as settlers of Turtle Island. How can we support Indigenous struggle while maintaining our identities? How can we the connect the struggles of our communities?
The discussion will be facilitated by Eryn Wise and Kat Eng of Honor the Earth, Mary Anne Quiroz of Indigenous Roots, and Juliana Hu Pegues and Eunha Jeong Wood of RadAzns.
Learn about Standing Rock through a history of U.S. colonialism, settler colonialism, and immigrant histories.
There will be a Q&A panel with folks who continue to work with the #NoDAPL campaign and discuss concrete ways to support and get involved.
Light snacks will be provided. If you would like to attend and have childcare needs, please message us directly or add a discussion thread to let us know.
Looking forward to sharing space, and learning and working together!
